DAY ONE:

Your fresh tattoo will have been wrapped in a non-stick dressing at the end of your session.

Keep this dressing on until you are ready to wash the tattoo, after 2hrs and before 6hrs.

Gently wash the tattooed area with warm soapy water, ensuring that any blood / residual ink / cream is cleaned away

Gently pat the area dry with a clean towel, then allow to air dry for 20 minutes

Apply a small amount of tattoo cream with clean hands and gently rub into the skin

EVERY DAY WHILST HEALING:

-Be gentle with your tattoo and keep it clean

-Be mindful that your tattoo will be open skin until it has "healed over" which may take two weeks, and you should minimise it's  exposure to unclean environments

-Wear clothing that is comfortable and doesn't irritate the tattooed area

-Once or twice a day when you shower, wash your tattoo gently with warm soapy water, ensure to rinse well, pat dry gently and leave to air dry for 20 minutes, then apply a small amount of cream gently with clean hands

RE-apply cream when your tattoo feels or looks dry, make sure your hands are clean

Which Cream To Use?

There are many creams on the market, in different styles to suit different skins.

-Look for a cream that is suitable for use on broken skin.

-Be mindful of moisturising creams marketed for tattoo use that may only be suitable to use once the tattoo has healed over.

-Be prepared and have your cream ready for the day of your tattoo

Lotions are easier to apply than an ointment, with longer lasting moisture than a balm. ex. Easy Tattoo, Tattoo Goo lotion

Ointment provides longer lasting moisture, but can be sticky. ex. Bepanthen nappy ointment, Balm Tattoo ointment. Tip: Bepanthen is easily available from baby sections in supermarkets and pharmacies, in case you've not ordered your cream in time

Balms are easy to apply, but will need to be reapplied more often. Also usually in a convenient tin or tub. ex. Tattoo Goo balm

Serums are the easiest to apply ex. Fade The Itch
